Project Description: This is a social based project that will deliver a series of educational programs that are gender specific. This specific target of this project is to increase the emotional resilience of landholders and this will be done through 2 types of events; these being:

1. Men's Program: The men's program will conduct a 2 day pilot workshop titled "Time Out 4 Blokes", which will be delivered in conjunction with the NSW Department of Primary Industries and Centrelink. To follow on from this workshop a 1 day foum will be held that will showcase the qualities that enhance emotional resilience.

2. Women's Program: This program will deliver the 2 day "Shaping Our Futures Together" workshop in partnership with the NSW Department of Primary Industries. Following on from this workshop will be a 1 day "Women in the Landscape" Forum which will target 100 women from the Little River community. Project: "Women in the Landscape" Forum Series (2009)

Funded by: “This project is supported by funding from the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry under its Australia’s Farming Future initiative”.

Funding: $55,000    Total Project Value: $66,550

Project Description: This project is an opportunity for Little River Landcare to share our skills with other landcare networks and to deliver the "Women in the Landscape" forum, which has proven to be highly successful in the Little River Catchment, as a means of engaging rural women in Landcare. This project will see our organisation partner with Watershed Landcare (Mudgee/Rylstone), Bell River Landcare (Molong/Wellington) and Macquarie 2100 (Trangie). We will assist each of these Landcare groups in coordinating and delivering this forum to a total of 350 women. Each forum will involve a number of key speakers who will address the role of women in strengthening primary industry productivity and supporting community resilience in a changing climate. These speakers will demonstrate the types of adversity that challenge rural women and innovative ways to overcome them. For further information about the Australias Farming Future program click here. This project is due for completion in January 2010.
